A study to investigate a drug called Tabex® designed to help people give up smoking.

This study consists of a Screening Visit (to confirm your eligibility to enter the study).

Five in-house stays (Day -1 to Day 4, Day 12 to Day 13, Day 16 to Day 17, Day 20 to Day 21, and Day 24 to Day 26)

Post Study Follow-Up visit

For this study we are looking for current smokers (who smoke at least 10 conventional cigarettes each day and smokers who smoke "roll up cigarettes) who have a desire to quit smoking.

When at Simbec smoking will be restricted. This means you cannot smoke during busy periods where you are having blood samples taken. E.g. during days at Simbec, all smoking must occur within designated area(s) only and you must have your last cigarette a minimum of 2 hours before dosing and can only start smoking after final blood sample. You will also go for a cigarette as a group.  You will not be allowed a cigarette after 11pm.

On the days you are at home you can smoke at will, however, you will need to record the number of cigarettes you have been smoking in a diary that will be provided to you.

No e-cigarette users

We are looking for smokers aged over 65+ who are not on any form of medication
